More Than Conquerors

We Are Conquerors

"For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps" (1 Peter 2:21). "For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake" (Philippians 1:29).

Jesus Sacrificed His Life For Us- God's son, Jesus Christ, had sacrificed his life for us. He suffered persecution for spreading the Gospel, the true Word of God. He spoke to us about how to live in peace with The Word of God. He was a threat to the Romans because they didn't want peace. Violence is not the answer, because Jesus said that those who live by the sword, shall die by the sword (Matthew 26:52).
As God's children we will suffer the same way he did. He came down as the Spirit, the Flesh, and Son of God and suffered persecution for spreading the Gospel. People didn't believe that he was the son of God but when Jesus Christ faced obstacles, he faced them with patience, self-control, and gentleness (Galatians 5:22-23). We should follow his example, by conquering our obstacles in the same way as he did. We should not follow them in the acts of impurity, fits of rage, and self ambition (Galatians 5:19-21).

Why must we suffer for his sake?-
We suffer because we are human beings. As human beings we know that we are born, we grow up, and we die. Every person on Earth goes through this. Every person will die of some cause and between their birth and their death they will need to work in order to live. God even commanded Adam to work, labor, guard and protect the garden of Eden (Genesis 2:15). Likewise, faith without works is dead (James 1:17).  Some people can suffer by diseases and sickness. But once people suffer for the cause of Christ "It is better, if it is God's will to suffer for doing good than for doing evil." (1 Peter 3:17). "But even you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed 'Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened." (1 Peter 3:14)
